When Pine is talked about today, people immediately think of the Pine that you can buy which is fast grown and almost white in colour. The reclaimed pine timber that we use is a completely different timber altogether, pine that was felled for manufacturing 100yrs ago was not a Hybrid pine that was Scientifically modified to grow tall and fast, it was just pine has nature had intended it to be. The Victorians chose to use pine timber because pine is second only to Mahogany for its stability. The reclaimed pine that we use to make our reclaimed pine doors, window shutters, re-sawn floor boards, pine door architrave and reclaimed pine skirting boards, is all sourced from redundant Victorian churches, mills, schools and factories. The timber is reclaimed in the form of beams of wood that are typically 12" x 4" - 9" x 3" and 7" x 2" for example. We select the timber for its condition, and very importantly the colour of the timber. Victorian beams that have been lime washed at an early stage in their life tend to give us the best colour of timber. The colour of the timber can only be seen when you cut a timber straight through, to reveal the true inner colour. It is this colour of timber that is seen when it is used to manufacture the doors, shutters, floorboards, door architrave and skirting boards that UKAA sell.

Below you can see how we take Salvaged Pine beams which are in excess of 100yrs old, once they have passed our stringent quality tests they are then transported back to the Factory where they are then de-nailed before they are then re-sawn to make Pine Doors, Floorboards, Window Shutters, Skirting board and Architrave.
